HYDRANGEA

I wasn't really familiar with hydrangea when I lived in Canada. However, in this part of Japan, the annual rainy season in June means hydrangea! And they are everywhere! Almost every private garden has them and the variations of colour, shapes and sizes seem endless. I can't get enough - especially of the bluish-purple hues of many varieties.

I've been taking photos of hydrangea for some time but several years ago we discovered two temples nearby that have hydrangea gardens and special viewing events in June. I've put these photos in two separate galleries below to give some idea of the experience. The first gallery is a collection of hydrangea photos from over the years and from a variety of locations.
